EFFECTS OF LOCAL TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT POLICY ON INTENSITIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT
LOKAAL VEKEERS- EN VERVOERSBELEID: EFFECTEN OP INTENSITEITEN EN MILIEU
Local authorities play an important role in the implementation of the national traffic and transport policy. They implement the so-called location policy (the right business on the right place), parking policy, urban remodelling policy, cycling policy and public transport policy. Local authorities do not fully implement the national traffic and transport policy. A model has been designed to calculate the mobility effects of the level of implementation of national traffic and transport policy at the local level. The consequences for noise nuisance and air pollution in towns are also calculated. The fact that local authorities do not fully implement the national traffic and transport policy has led to higher local traffic intensities and slightly higher noise nuisance and air pollution levels.
