GRADUATED DRIVER LICENSING IN NOVA SCOTIA
After briefly providing some background information on Nova Scotia's "marine influenced" driving conditions, traffic fatalities, legislative actions to improve highway safety, and former driver licensing system, this paper focuses on Nova Scotia's development, promotion, and legislative approval of a graduated driver licensing system. Nova Scotia's graduated licensing system came into effect on October 1, 1994. The requirements apply to anyone, regardless of age, applying to obtain a license for the first time.
