SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND PASSENGER CAR TRAFFIC
KESTAVA KEHITYS JA HENKILOAUTOLIKENNE
Sustainable development means that basic needs of humankind will be satisfied without removing from future generations the opportunity to satisfy their needs. Sustainable development assumes a respect for nature, because nature has to be protected for future generations. Realizing sustainable development in traffic means decreasing traffic volumes, decreasing consumption of energy in traffic and favouring environmental friendly traffic modes. By changing living habits, compacting community structure and by new technology the traffic will be guided in the direction of sustainable development.
