THE ACCIDENT INVOLVEMENT AND INJURY RISK RATES OF CAR MODELS
ONNETTOMUUS- JA LOUKKAANTUMISRISKIT AUTOMALLEITTAIN
The aim of the study was to produce information of accident involvement and injury risk rates of different common makes and models of passenger cars. The effect of vehicle mileage, vehicle mass, user age and sex and areal usage, which are the most important factors causing variation of risk rates, has been eliminated. According to this study, most of the car models causing many single accidents are rear-wheel drive or high-powered front-wheel drive models. High engine size also increases the risk of rear end collisions. The car models causing many frontal accidents are mostly small in their mass.
