THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF TRAMS IN THE CITY OF HELSINKI

RAITIOVAUNUJEN AJODYNAMIIKKA HELSINGISSA

Trams have priority in 70 per cent of signalized junctions in the city of Helsinki. In planning tram priority it is necessary to gain information of the dynamic behaviour of trams. The acceleration and deceleration results are important parameters in the priority planning. The study was carried out in two phases; accelerations and decelerations were measured in the first phase. The examination of the second phase was based on the comparison of the simulated and measured journey times.
