SINGLE FREQUENCY MOTORWAY RADIO WITH LOCAL SWITCHING FOR REAL TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION

The Societe des Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhone, which oeprates 1,500 km of interurban motorways in the central-eastern quarter of France, is currently providing users with traffic news in real time via a dedicated radio station AUTOROUTE-INFO. The station is progressively mastering more sophisticated and user friendly technologies and extending its coverage to the entire concession. AUTOROUTE-INFO gets its information from a powerful traffic data collecting and processing system, which includes regular patrolling; traffic counting and weather forecast stations; cameras and other specific sensors; and control centers at local, regional, and central levels. AUTOROUTE-INFO is broadcast on a single frequency and uses a modern format of continuous newscasts, which is particularly suited to news service. AUTOROUTE-INFO implements the most advanced and high performance technological innovations currently available to provide users with real-time local news under the best conditions. Studios of AUTOROUTE-INFO are located within the regional traffic management control centers, so that broadcast information is harmonized with information distributed by variable message panels.
