The specifications for bituminous products for highway use in British Columbia were revised in 1971 in order to reduce the incidence of transverse cracking. These new specifications are briefly outlined. A transverse crack count survey was initiated in 1973 to determine the success of the new specifications. The results of these crack surveys are shown and indicate that some reduction in transverse cracking has occurred. Examination of the projects constructed under the new specification will continue in order to more firmly prove this early promise. /TRRL/
