FIELD TESTS ON A METHOD OF ESTIMATING THE INCREASE IN STRENGTH OF CONCRETE SUBJECTED TO VACUUM TREATMENT

The purpose of the investigation described in this paper was firstly to find out whether this method would give the same results when tested under field conditions at construction sites, and secondly to draw up a proposal for an appropriate system of inspection which could be used to estimate the final strength of the vacuum treated concrete. When the test method in question had previously been tested in the laboratory it was found that it was possible to deduce a relation between the strength of the concrete in test pieces and the concrete strength in a floor slab. In the field tests, the agreement between the corresponding strength values was somewhat less close, but was nevertheless regarded as satisfactory, considering that this procedure was to be used for estimates as a method of inspection. /TRRL/
