1995 LEX REPORT ON MOTORING: WHAT DRIVES THE MOTORIST

The seventh edition of the Lex Report is based on a survey of 1,519 regular car drivers at widely spaced sampling points in Great Britain. Regular drivers are defined as those driving at least once a month. The report examines motorists' current behaviour and attitudes as well as looking forward to their vision of motoring in the years to come. Results are used to consider the state of the UK car market and predict the changes in the next four years and the effect on car retailing. A wide range of issues are examined including the role of the car in British society, moral issues, and the cars people drive. Factors affecting the growth in new car sales are considered, including environmental concerns and the role of personal service in car retailing. Statistical profiles are given of Britain's motorists and cars.
