1996 LEX REPORT ON MOTORING: LISTENING TO ALL ROAD USERS

This report is the eighth annual survey in the series addressing key questions on the future of transport policy in the UK. The survey covers car drivers, members of the motor industry, transport professionals and non-drivers. Profiles are given of road users and their reliance on the car and other forms of transport are examined. Their views are considered on the choices available in transport policy. The views of drivers are given on their experiences on buying and running a car, the quality of manufacturers, dealers and servicing locations. Statistical tables are given in the second part of the report on a wide range of issues including car ownership, buying, servicing and repair and fuel. Statistical reliability of the research and definitions are given in an appendix. It is not considered possible to provide more capacity for motorists to enjoy the freedom provided by the car.
