ISSUES AND RESEARCH NEEDS OF THE URBAN TRANSIT INDUSTRY IN 1994

CUTA's R&D Coordination Program has as part of its mandate to identify and communicate R&D needs and priorities, and to promote research projects to address these needs. CUTA has carried out since 1985, when the R&D Coordination Program was initiated, a number of activities to identify and prioritize the Canadian transit industry's R&D needs. In particular, CUTA organized a special workshop held in November 1993 that brought together representatives from transit systems, government agencies, manufacturers, consultants, etc. to discuss the major issues facing the urban transit industry in Canada, and the research needs that might help address some of these issues. The report outlines the issues identified by workshop participants, and the related research needs and priorities. (A)
