These hearings considered Amtrak reform and reauthorization legislation. The first hearing was devoted to getting an overall picture of Amtrak's current financial and operational condition. The hearing on February 10 examined current problems and proposals regarding Amtrak. The hearing on February 13 considered the statutory mandates that govern Amtrak and how to reform them.
