SURVEY OF MORNING PEAK HOUR BICYCLISTS IN THE METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON AREA
In spring 1995, the Transportation Planning Board of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG/TPB) conducted a study of bicycle commuters in the Washington region. Questionnaires were distributed to cyclists at six locations in the region. In order to learn about bicycle trips for transportation rather than purely for recreation, these surveys were distributed during the weekday morning rush hours. The questionnaire asked about the trip they were making, about their cycling habits and preferences, and for general demographic information. This report presents the information gathered in the survey.
