LARGE POURS FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES. CURRENT PRACTICE SHEET 2P/15/1, NO. 28

Reinforced sections of high-strength concrete, rich in cement, can be cast in one continuous pour whether 30 M3 or 3000 M3 in volume. The technique was developed to solve an increasing problem facing the construction industry when casting large amounts of structural-quality concrete for reinforced sections. Although it is current practice, some explanation of the technique is included where necessary to emphasize its striking contrast with the traditional method developed for mass concrete dam construction. This current practice sheet describes the principles and planning leading up to the decision to cast in one or monolithically. (A) /TRRL/
