CALGARY GOPLAN: A DESCRIPTIVE SUMMARY OF THE PUBLIC COMMENT DATABASE
The Calgary GoPlan is reviewing and updating Calgary's transportation plan and developing recommendations for the city's transportation system beyond the year 2000. The project includes a public involvement program, an important component of which is a database of comments received from the public. This paper describes the GoPlan comment database and provides a summary of the comments received as of May 1995. The database runs on FoxPro software and contains 30 fields for such data as type and date of response, specific project commented upon, source of comment, issue commented upon, and a description of the nature of the comment or recommendation received. The appendix includes some statistics on use of the database and on the issues for which comments were received.
