HYDROGRAPH DEVELOPMENT FOR URBANIZING AREAS

The first mini-course, Hydrograph Development for Urbanizing Areas, includes and describes certain points under these topics: Scope of Coverage, Philosophy of Hydrologic Studies, and Selection of a Method. An overview is given of the steps involved in Hydrograph Development which include: (1) selection of a design storm return period; (2) selection of a precipitation intensity duration curve; (3) decision on whether it is desirable to divide the basin into parts; (4) estimation of the time of concentration; (5) estimation of the peak flow; (6) development of hydrographs; (7) combination of hydrographs and channel routing as needed. References and five examples are given.
