LARGE DEFORMATION ANALYSIS OF INELASTIC SPACE TRUSS STRUCTURES

The author considers static analysis of space truss structures including inelastic material and large deformation geometric nonlinearities. Behavior modes of member material include: buckling, yielding, inelastic postbuckling, unloading, and reloading. Nonlinear updated Lagrangian space truss displacement equations are the basis for large deformation behavior. Because of nonlinear member behavior mode interaction, force redistributions in a space truss structure can lead to progressive structural failure. The proposed model traces the sequence of member buckling, yielding, and inelastic member response. Findings demonstrate the model capabilities for representing the inelastic, progressive failure response of space truss structures.
