S.T.C. MEXICO CITY METRO, AN ORGANIZATION RESTRUCTURING AFTER 17 YEARS OF SUSTAINED GROWTH

The Mexico City Metro, which opened in 1969, experienced numerous transformations up until 1980, when the Direction of Operations underwent restructuring; a move that also necessitated a change in the management of the other departments. Although this restructuring caused problems in both human and organizational terms, it was nonetheless productive. However, the difficult economic situation has forced the city authorities to introduce an emergency/maintenance plan. This article describes the different steps of the restructuring giving an example of quality implementation.
