ENGINEERING DESIGN OF DETENTION FACILITIES

The purpose of onsite detention of storm water is to regulate runoff to reduce and control peak flow rates downstream. Criteria and procedures for the design of onsite detention facilities are presented, as is a discussion of special design considerations for developed and undeveloped areas. Finally, a design example of the Chow method is presented along with supporting tables and charts.
