AN AUTOMATED PARKING SYSTEM FOR CONFINED SPACE APPLICATIONS

An automated parking system can increase the density of parking in a given building by eliminating the need for ramps between levels, decreasing the height requirement for each level and allowing vehicles to be stored closer together. An automated parking system can also allow vehicles to be parked in areas that cannot be accessed via conventional ramps due to space limitations. This article outlines the development of a four-axis, computer-controlled system designed for unattended operation in confined space applications. It is one of the most advanced systems of its type in the world.
