MODELING AND SIMULATION OF SLED AND BARRIER TEST FOR SIDE IMPACT APPLICATIONS
Modeling is becoming an increasingly popular tool to develop restraint systems as a measure of protecting occupants involved in side impact accidents. Sled test methods are being developed and used extensively in evaluating and developing restraint systems all around the world. The use of analytical tools with other laboratory testing can significantly improve the effectiveness of developing and implementing a restraint system to protect the occupant. This paper describes a method of modeling and simulating a side impact sled test and barrier test. The model is developed using some of the advanced features of MADYMO version 5.0. The model results are compared with sled test and barrier test data. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 875886.
