EUROPEAN TRANSPORT TELEMATICS: AN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVE

Developing productive relationships between North America and Europe in transportation technology requires an understanding of the unique characteristics and structure of the European ITS industry (European Transport Telematics). It is essential to understand the somewhat complex European process and to be aware of the authorities involved as well as the interest groups promoting research, funding and deployment. The author worked for one year with ITS Europe in Brussels and identifies ITS interests among the various institutional structures.
