VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF STOREY BRIDGE

Free vibration analysis of span seven of the Storey Bridge was carried out using the finite element method. Two dimensional truss and beam element models and three dimensional beam element models, with various combinations of boundary conditions, were used in the analysis to determine the range of frequencies and modes of vibration. Analytical results were compared with those obtained by monitoring the vibration of this span. Findings indicate that the dominant mode of vibration of this span meets the design criteria for strength, serviceability and comfort. (a)
