USING SIMULATION MODELS TO AID IN DETERMINING TRAFFIC CONTROL STRATEGIES FOR IVHS/ATMS SIGNAL SYSTEMS

The purpose of this paper is to describe a basic methodology using traffic simulation programs to select optimum traffic signal plans for a variety of volume conditions, and to establish the volume and occupancy threshold levels required for traffic responsive implementation of those plans.
