INTERSECTION TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ANALYSIS SYSTEM
This paper describes an intersection traffic accident analysis system that detects the sounds of vehicle collisions that occur near the intersection equipped with traffic signals and record and analyze both the level of the sound and the state of the traffic lights. The system detects abnormal sounds, such as the sound of an accident near the intersection, and records the state of the traffic lights for a certain period before and after the abnormal sound and the sound level. An analysis is performed by computer and the results are output on a printer in the form of a graph. The causes of the accident can then be analyzed. The expected effects of the system are: 1) an accurate understanding of how the accident happened; 2) information to clarify the causes of the accident; 3) reduction in accidents through clarification of their causes; 4) labor saving in verifying accidents; and 5) labor saving in ascertaining the actual situation.
