TOWARDS A BETTER GEOGRAPHICAL COVER FOR GATHERING TRAFFIC DATA

Traffic information in France is gathered and processed jointly by a host of different ministries. The mission of local services are broad, including everything from road building to gathering data. Territorial subdivisions are part of those local services and have an outstanding ability to gather information. Data gathering is used to make the overall system larger and more accurate. Automatic tools for data collecting and processing are being developed. The purpose of the collection process is to set up easy operating tools, fitting with local features. The tools may exist but need improvement, may be developed from previous studies, or may be new. Ultimately, the key is to communicate with other local services and with outer systems through standards.
