WATER-BORNE ACRYLIC COATINGS
Water-borne acrylic coatings are known for toughness, resistance to ultraviolet light, and ability to retain clarity and color. Acrylic chemistry represents a wide range of materials suitable for a variety of applications. Water-borne acrylics are safer for workers and the environment and are nonflammable. Water-borne acrylic maintenance finishes provide protection from many exposure environments, making them well suited for bridges, storage tanks, and offshore platforms. This article describes the basics of water-borne acrylic coatings, including their history, basic chemistry, formulation and application considerations, and performance properties.
