TTI'S RAP RESEARCH PACKAGE HELPS TXDOT RECYCLE RESOURCES
Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is the subject of two Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) research studies to identify and evaluate economical and effective uses for RAP in routine maintenance. RAP is produced when asphalt pavement is removed to correct surface irregularities, maintain curblines, or remove a poor quality layer. TTI found that common uses for RAP include driveways, mailbox turnouts, and shoulder repairs. RAP can also be a successful stabilized base or can be blended with existing base materials.
