This paper discusses two approaches to influencing unwanted traff rule violation, in this case speeding, with one based on infrastructure measures and one on telematics. In the first experiment modifications were carried out to sections of two rura roads where the speed limit was 80 km/h. Modifications included replacing white lines with blocks of chippings, installing signs providing stripes on the road surface. The telematics approach considered the possibility of equipping both the road infrastruct and vehicle with advanced telematics for the purposes of feedback tutoring. Subjects in a simulator were given visual and auditory tutoring messages when they deviated from normative behaviour. In cases considerable speed reduction was observed.
