REGIONAL IMPACTS OF A NEW TRUNK ROAD SOKNA - OERGENVIKA

NAERINGSMESSIGE VIRKNINGER AV NY RV7 SOKNA - OERGENVIKA

The report constitutes part of an impact analysis of a planned new trunk road between Sokna and Oergenvika in Buskerud County, Norway. The new link reduces travel time between Hallingdal and Hoenefoss with 20 minutes. This may lead to a minor increase in commuter traffic between the two communities but the labour markets will not be integrated. More significant impacts are expected for retailing, and the market area of the southern part of Hallingdal will probably be integrated in the market area surrounding Hoenefoss. The new road link will probably contribute to growth in the tourism industry in Hallingdal. Other industries will gain somewhat by shorter transport distance to the Oslo region. There will certainly be a reduction and redistribution of retailing and other business activities connected to the road traffic along the old trunk road.(A)
