META-ANALYSIS OF STUDIES EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ROAD SAFETY MEASURES
METAANALYSE AV EFFEKTMAALINGER AV TRAFIKKSIKKERHETSTILTAK
The report describes meta-analysis as a tool for summarizing research concerning the effectiveness of road safety measures. A quantitative meta-analysis is a method for weighing the results of several studies together to form a best estimate of the mean effectiveness of the countermeasure. The uncertainty of the estimate of mean effectiveness is estimated. The report contains examples of meta-analysis and discusses advantages and shortcomings of this method for summarizing research.(A)
