DOMESTIC FREIGHT TRANSPORT TOWARDS THE YEAR 2030

INNENRIKS GODSTRANSPORT MOT AAR 2030

The future development of the Norwegian domestic freight market is studied by means of the general equilibrium model GODMOD. The model distinguishes between the road, rail and sea modes, between own- account and for-hire transport. Three different scenarios are calculated: the reference scenario, the CO2 tax scenario and the energy savings scenario. The reference scenario represents a business-as-usual perspective on the economy. In the CO2 tax scenario an assumption is made about an international tax on CO2 emissions. The energy savings scenario corresponds to the reference scenario, except that more optimistic assumptions are made concerning energy saving technological improvements in the transport sector.(A)
