THE RESEARCH ON USABILITY OF 14HNMBCU AND 10GHMBA HIGH- STRENGTH LOW-ALLOY STEELS FOR MARINE APPLICATIONS

The paper presents the results of an investigation carried out on quenched and tempered plates, 12mm in thickness, made of high- strength low-alloy steel grades 14HNMBCu (with minimum yield strength 690 MPa) and 10GHMBA (with minimum yield strength 620 MPa). The results obtained show that the plates examined and their welded joints meet Det Norske Veritas requirements for marine constructions. Susceptibility to cold cracking of tested steels was evaluated.
