INFLUENCE OF THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS ON THE COLLAPSE STRENGTH OF SQUARE PLATES WITH INITIAL IMPERFECTIONS
The collapse strength of square plates with initial imperfections is studied on the basis of results of a nonlinear finite element code which takes into account both geometric and material nonlinearities. The results bring some new evidence regarding the effect of the different components of the shape of the initial distortions on the collapse strength of square plates, in particular as it relates with the boundary conditions and slenderness of the plate.
