AN ALGORITHM FOR A REAL-TIME DETECTION OF ENCOUNTER SITUATIONS

In this paper, an algorithm for the real-time detection of encounter situations is proposed. The algorithm is based on the concept of the collision risk coefficient. Its primary function is the development of an autonomous warning function compatible, as far as possible, with the real behaviour of ship's officers during an encounter situation.
