THE NEXT STEP IN DESIGN OF ARMOUR FOR BREAKWATERS AND COAST PROTECTION

This article describes the outcome of research towards improving the effectiveness of concrete armouring which is a subject of wide interest among port and harbour engineers. Arrangements are in hand for full scale winter tests, but model tests have shown that there is a scope for departure from the present philosophy covering the design of concrete armour units.
