APPLICATION OF QUEUING THEORY ON THE DESIGN OF FISHING HARBOURS

In order to determine an optimum number of berths for a fishing harbour, the queuing theory is applied in the light of national fishing vessel, harbour and activities. The waiting time of fishing vessels outside the harbour and in queue is calculated in accordance with the considered queuing model. The theoretical distributions representing the actual vessel arrival and service time distributions are determined. For the economic considerations, cost estimate studies including cost of harbour and waiting vessels are carried out. Both proposed mathematical and economical models are applied on Guzelbahce fishing harbour in Turkey.
