UK-BUILT DREDGER DESTINED FOR SRI LANKA

The cutter-suction dredger WELIGOUWA was built at Dunston (Shiprepairers) Ltd, Hull, UK, for the Sri Lankan Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. The vessel has been designed to undertake the dredged maintenance of approximately 30 fishing harbours and fish landings around the Sri Lankan coast. WELIGOUWA'S main dimensions include a length overall of 40m, length bp 33m, breadth 9.70m, depth 2.50m and a loaded draught of 1.30m. Layout is compromised between coastal transit duties and stationary dredging to a six wire mooring system. A general arrangement plan is included in the article.
