MIXING PASSENGERS AND CONTAINERS

ZI YU LAN, the first of two PCV 400 class ships from Germany's MTW Schiffswerft yard at Wismar, was handed over in August and will be joined by a sistership early next year. The 286 TEU/392 passenger vessels will be operated by Shanghai Shipping (Group) Co. See also abstract no 95112501. The principle particulars of the vessels are: propulsion 2 x Krupp MaK 6M601C length, overall 150.45m length, between perpendiculars 137.50m beam 24.00m depth to freeboard deck 13.20m draught, design 6.85m tonnage, gross register 15 400 tonnage, deadweight 5 650t speed, trial 20 knots container capacity 286 TEU crew 95 passengers 392
