RELIABILITY BASED INSPECTION PLAN FOR TLP TETHERS

The tether system is a critical part of a tension leg platform (TLP) and fatigue may be an important failure mode for the tethers. The crack growth behaviour and the system effects make the fatigue and inspection process of TLP tethers relatively complicated. This paper addresses some of the problems related to a reliability based inspection planning for TLP tethers.
