COLLISION RESISTANCE OF DOUBLE-HULLED TANKERS

The article reports on a study into the collision resistance of a 290,000 DWT double-hulled tanker. The midship section has a 3740mm double hull depth. A cement carrier with a displacement of 11000 metric tons was chosen for the colliding ship. It was found that the collision strength of the double-hulled tanker was remarkably high compared to a single-hulled tanker of the same size.
