A USER FRIENDLY TOOL FOR THE DESIGNER AND SHIPBUILDER BRINGING TOGETHER DESIGN APPROVAL CONSTRUCTION AND LEADING INTO THE OPERATION OF THE SHIP

With a comprehensive ship modelling and analysis package, a classification society has introduced the first member of its future life cycle product model tool. With this tool the society hopes to significantly improve the knowledge transfer within the company and between the company and clients. Thus improving decision-making basis for the whole ship classification chain. This paper gives an introduction to the strategic thinking behind the development project, and presents to some detail the first software package and its implementation in the classification concept.
