CABLE INNOVATOR: AN EFFICIENT SOLUTION TO THE DEMANDS OF THE FIBRE-OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS ERA

CABLE INNOVATOR was delivered in September this year to Cable & Wireless (Marine) Ltd from the Finnish yard Kvaerner Masa. CABLE INNOVATOR has been purpose-designed for the laying of all types of submarine communication cables and associated repeaters, regenerators, equalisers and joints. In incorporates a fully stern-working concept to enhance its operational performance, and also features a high cable-carrying capacity. With an overall length of 145.4m, a breadth of 24m, and a draught of 8.5m, the 9400dwt, 14,000gt vessel is the largest of its kind yet built. See also the following abstract.
