ANALYSIS OF TAUT-SLACK MARINE CABLE DYNAMICS

The lumped-mass model is used for analysing the dynamics of marine cables operating in taut-slack conditions. The non-linear second-order governing equations are solved by employing the Galerkin procedure with sinusoids as basic modes. The modified Euler method is used for numerical integration in time domain. Numerical results and comments are presented and a good agreement is achieved between the numerical results and experimental data available.
