A NEW GENERATION OF PORTABLE TANK GAUGES

An electronic tank gauge, originally developed for the industrial side is now on trial on about 10 ships. The electronic gauge uses a normal uncoated steel tape. A special digital signal transmission technology allows the communication between sensor and instrument. The uncoated steel tape is less vulnerable to mechanical damage and costs only a fraction of the coated tape used in traditional electronic gauges. In addition the uncoated tape has the advantage of having custody transfer accuracy, not the case with a coated tape.
