A NOVEL PERMANENT MAGNET PROPULSION MOTOR FOR FUTURE WARSHIPS
This paper describes the principle of operation and construction of a novel type of permanent magnet motor, the transverse flux motor. Its potential advantages compared to more conventional electrical machines are discussed and its suitability for warship propulsion applications is examined.
