TURBINES STILL THE CHOICE FOR LARGER AND FASTER FERRIES

Although the high speed diesel remains dominant in the high speed ferry propulsion marketplace, it cannot compete with gas turbines for bigger ferries or where speed advantages are needed. Both diesel and gas turbine power, and in some cases a combination of the two, are being chosen by the latest generation of fast ferries. The article reviews some of the latest applications.
