APPLICATION OF LARGE-SIZED BLOCK PRODUCTION METHOD FOR CONTAINER SHIPBUILDING

A large-sized block production method was applied to the building of containerships with eleven rows of container loading cells in the hold. Hull blocks were manufactured as big as possible into only two blocks of upper and lower parts in the section, thus making the facilities capable of VLCC production. This paper examines the production procedures and results of construction work in a Japanese shipyard are reported.
