A STUDY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF TUNED DAMPER BY HYBRID CONTROL

The authors developed a new type of tuned liquid damper (TLD) for the superstructure of a ship. The TLD consists of a U-shaped tank, water and air room. A natural frequency of the damper can be controlled by adjusting the pressure in the air room. The paper presents a study on the development of a TLD controlled by active (hybrid) control. Simulation calculation and model tests were carried and from the results it was shown that the TLD with the hybrid control system has a higher performance than with a passive control system.
