ON THE WIND AND CURRENT FORCES ACTING ON A ULTRA LARGE FLOATING PLATFORM

This paper deals with the estimation method of wind force and current force acting on an ultra large floating platform. A mat like very long platform which will be used for a floating airport is considered. To estimate the fluid drag coefficient for such a huge structure, wind tunnel and towing tank model experiments were carried out paying special attention to the friction drag coefficient. The paper shows the methods and results of the model experiments and discusses application methods for wind and current forces on full scale structures.
